SEED MICAT at the Plenary Meeting of Concerted Action for the Energy Efficiency Directive (CA EED)

SEED MICAT was featured at the 6th Plenary Meeting of the Concerted Action for the Energy Efficiency Directive (CA EED), held recently in Berlin. This high-level event brought together over 150 experts and representatives from the 27 EU Member States, Norway, and the European Commission, all dedicated to advancing the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).
The meeting serves as a vibrant platform for exchanging knowledge, best practices, and real-world experiences related to energy efficiency policy and implementation across Europe. The second session of the Plenary Meeting focused on practical applications of the Energy Efficiency First (EE1st) principle.
During this session, the project coordinator of SEED MICAT presented the MICATool – a publicly available, user-friendly online platform that enables policymakers and stakeholders to assess the multiple impacts of energy efficiency measures. He highlighted that the MICATool offers a comprehensive, data-driven approach to evaluating social, economic, and environmental benefits, supporting more informed and holistic policy decisions.
The presentation generated significant interest among attendees, especially around how the MICATool could be used for national or local applications. Participants engaged actively in table discussions, raising insightful questions and exploring the tool's potential for their respective contexts.
Following the success of the session, the CA EED Management Team has already begun planning the next Plenary Meeting in collaboration with National Contact Points. For this domain, it was agreed to continue the conversation through a combined working group focused on energy efficiency performance and waste heat utilization in data centres, addressing Articles 26 and 12 of the EED.
We are proud to see SEED MICAT contributing to the European dialogue on energy efficiency and look forward to continued collaboration within the CA EED network.
